Why FXBO Puts Employee Wellbeing First
Ever noticed how human tolerance is a little like a rubber band?
We adapt to busy weeks, shift priorities, and manage a to-do list that has no ending. A little pressure can sharpen our thinking and push us further than expected.
But stretch a rubber band far enough, often enough, and it stops returning to its original shape. Stretch it further and it snaps. Some workplaces respond by asking you to tie a knot in it and carry on, then act surprised that it has lost its elasticity.
At FXBO, we believe employee wellbeing should begin long before the breaking point. People are resilient, but they are not infinitely stretchable. They need flexibility, movement, connection, rest and the occasional opportunity to look somewhere other than a screen.
1-Wellbeing Is Crucial for a Successful Business
Employee wellbeing is sometimes treated like a pleasant extra. Important, certainly, but only after the “serious” business matters have been handled.
The numbers disagree.
According to the World Health Organization, depression and anxiety contribute to approximately 12 billion lost working days every year, costing the global economy around US$1 trillion in lost productivity.
That is one expensive reminder that humans cannot run indefinitely at full tension.
Poor wellbeing eventually appears in very practical places: absence, exhaustion, staff turnover, slower decisions and work that needs to be done twice.
Putting people first is therefore not separate from building a strong company, rather a part of it.
2-Flexibility Gives Life Somewhere to Go
Life has a habit of scheduling itself during working hours.
Appointments need to happen, children need to go to school or daycare, and then traffic is a greedy time-consuming beast. Some mornings simply refuse to follow the plan.
FXBO offers flexible starting times, along with remote and hybrid working possibilities for different roles and circumstances.
Reasonable flexibility removes some of the small, unnecessary pulls on the rubber band. It gives employees more room to manage their responsibilities without turning an ordinary appointment into a logistical operation.
It also gives people greater control over how they organize their energy, focus, and working day.
3-Sometimes the Best Next Step Is Away from the Desk
We were not designed to sit perfectly still and solve problems through the intensity of our gaze.
Sometimes the answer arrives after we stand up.
In one Stanford experiment, walking increased creative output by an average of 60%. This applied to creative idea generation, not every form of focused thinking, so a short walk may help with brainstorming but probably will not complete the spreadsheet for you.
Still, it confirms something many of us already sense: staring harder at the same screen is not always the breakthrough strategy.
FXBO's office gym, lounge area, and occasional sports activities give employees opportunities to move, reset and return with a little more energy.
4- Wellbeing Can Be Social
Not every form of recovery involves silence, herbal tea, and a long hot bath – although it is a miracle cure almost every time – sometimes it looks like laughing with colleagues when nobody has opened a presentation.
Throughout the year, FXBO hosts New Year and Halloween celebrations, summer parties, team activities and other occasions that let people meet beyond their usual tasks. Our pet-friendly office can also welcome the occasional four-legged colleague, usually with strong networking skills and very limited respect for departmental boundaries.
These moments matter because healthy teams need more than efficient communication. They need trust, familiarity and the chance to enjoy being around one another. The work may bring us together, but it should not be the only thing we share.
5- Support Must Exist on Ordinary Tuesdays
Parties, pets and a gym can improve the workplace, but they cannot carry an entire wellbeing strategy.
The real test is what happens during an ordinary Tuesday when someone is overwhelmed, confused, or simply having a difficult day.
Can they ask for help? Will they be treated with respect? Are they trusted to take ownership without being left alone with every problem?
FXBO’s RISE values, Respect, Innovation, Support and Empowerment, help guide those everyday interactions. Wellbeing grows when employees feel heard, supported and trusted to contribute.
This is also why empathy matters. People do not stop being human when they sign in for work. A supportive culture leaves room for that reality without assuming employees are incapable of handling challenges.
Strong Teams Should Not Live at Full Tension
Putting employee wellbeing first does not mean promising that every day will be easy. Fintech moves quickly, deadlines exist, and some periods require teams to stretch.
The difference is whether stretching is a temporary response or a permanent job description.
At FXBO, we want people to have the flexibility, support, and breathing room they need to keep doing their best work without reaching the point where somebody must tie a knot and hope for the best.
Strong teams can stretch when the moment requires it, but it makes no sense to have to live at full tension.
